'This is an Island?' by DanceXchange
In May 2018, a group of artists went out on the streets of Birmingham to discuss Brexit and what it means to be British in a city that voted almost 50/50 in the Brexit vote.
'This is an Island?' directed by choreographer Gary Clark, invites you to experience a no holds barred version of Brexit through the eyes of Birmingham residents. Interviews, comments, actions and views are transformed into a thought-provoking and exciting multi-sensory journey featuring live performance, spoken word, dance and digital installation film from UK and Birmingham based artists.
GARY CLARK is the electrifying and witty dance artist whose most recent widely acclaimed work 'Coal,' co-commissioned by DanceXchange, looked at the old mining communities of the North. Originally from Barnsley, Gary is one of the UK’s leading contemporary dance artists. His quirky choreography is thought provoking, visually striking and instantly recognisable.
